What is the difference between human hair and synthetic hair extensions
- What is the difference between human hair and synthetic hair extensions?
Human Hair and Synthetic Hair have advantages and limitations. It really depends on what you’re looking for at the time. It can also depend on your budget. Both options have positives to them and we’ll go through those pluses below.
Let’s start with human hair …
Remy human hair is the premium option of hair extensions (lucky for you – that’s what we offer at Eden!). Hair follicles run in the same direction when collecting and crafting the hairpiece. With cuticles running in the same direction, you have less risk of tangling and the hair is much silkier to touch.
It’s also important to ensure you’re purchasing ethically sourced hair is hair that has been donated by an individual, that has given their consent and has been paid a fair and equitable wage for their donation. The hair is collected in a fashion that respects the donor and their personal economy.
If you choose human hair ensure you’re using care products specifically formulated for processed human hair. Unlike hair we grow, we’re not able to naturally hydrate our hair from oils that we produce from our scalp. If you regularly condition your extensions, you’ll ensure longevity for your new hair extensions.
Human hair is the far superior choice if quality is your major factor and you’re looking for sustainability.
So, what are the negatives?
Natural human hair requires effort. Alongside keeping it nourished, you’ll need to style your extensions on a daily basis. However, this can be interpreted as a positive, considering you have more control over your hair styles and you can create many different looks depending on your event.
It does take a bit of extra effort… but it’s well worth it!
‘Sup with synthetic hair?
With new technological advances, synthetic hair has come a long way in recent years. In some cases, it almost feels like human hair. The most appealing thing to synthetic hair is it can often be worn right out of the box with little or no styling. The fiber used has “memory” for wave, curl and volume which means that hair can bounce back into place with minimal effort. It can also stay in shape in those humid days where frizz can take over!
What are the negatives of synthetic hair?
Although synthetic hair sounds simple to use, it lacks in versatility. You’re unable to style it in different ways, like you can with human hair. You are unable to heat, curl or style synthetic hair due to the fibres it’s made from. If you choose synthetic hair, you have the one look. Which means you may need to purchase a variety of styles to wear in order to achieve different looks. So, whilst synthetic is a cheaper option, you’re not going to get the longevity, and flexibility you can with human hair!
Human hair versus synthetic hair conclusion …
Whilst synthetic hair may seem like a more affordable option in the short term, it’s not entirely correct in the long term. Human hair can last months longer than synthetic hair and is easily styled with heat and product. With new technologies synthetic hair can be soft and almost natural looking, however nothing beats the real thing!
