Donating instead of discounting

Why is Eden Donating instead of Discounting this holiday season?

November is one of the busiest months of the year for retail. It’s busy for businesses and consumers, soaking up all of the deal, discounts and offers – it can become overwhelming. Especially in the lead up to the holiday season … it’s go, go go!

Alongside busy sales, like a lot of other businesses, it’s been a tricky couple of years, managing the pandemic market, keeping positive and looking ahead into a brighter 2022.

We’re so very thankful that we were able to continue to successfully operate during such challenging times, and we of course, have YOU to thank for that. It does go to show, that we love to ensure our hair is looking glam even in those long days in lockdown!

After such a busy November we wanted to do something a little differently over December, the holiday season. We did some research we were overwhelmed with the wonderful work so many organisations are doing across Australia. It really opened our eyes to some of the struggles people, families and children (close to our hearts) face in their everyday lives.

Women and girls in low income countries already face additional layers of risk. When disaster strikes and they are removed from the protection of their community, that risk only increases.

  • 4 million people were forcibly displaced worldwide by the end of 2020.
  • Of those 82 million, 21% are girls under the age of 17.
  • 13 million girls are completely out of school as a result of humanitarian crises.
  • About 80% of people displaced by climate change are women.
  • Only 1 in 2 refugee children were enrolled in primary school and fewer than one in four refugee youth were enrolled in secondary education.

With some careful consideration we decided to support – Plan International; Follow her drams appeal. What’s really exciting is that you’ll also be contributing to this organisation which is giving girls hope into the future. Millions of girls are battling the double hardship of poverty and displacement, caused by conflict, climate, and crisis.

We’re excited to be running our Donating instead of Discounting month for the whole of December. With every purchase we’ll be donating a percentage to Plan International. This means that essentially, you’ll be making a difference this festive season to people that really need the financial support. We feel good about giving back and we want you to too.

We’ll share with you the amount of money raised throughout the festive season so that you can feel the difference you’ve made – we’ve made, together to the future generation of children.
