Dealing with hair loss? Here’s why you shouldn’t be embarrassed

Hair shedding is a part of our everyday life. It clogs up our shower drains, turns our carpets into hairy rugs and seems to show up in every part of our home.

On average, it’s normal to lose about 50 to 100 hairs every day. When we start to shed significantly more and notice that they aren’t exactly growing back, however, it’s normal to panic and feel frightened.

Managing hair loss is not a simple task, and we’re not here to tell you that it’s easy. Instead, it’s incredibly important to realise how common hair loss is and that experiencing it is not something that you’d need to be ashamed of.

Below, we’ve got some tips that’ll help with softening the emotional blow that comes with hair loss and encourage you to embrace yourself for the incredible individual that you are.

Why is my hair falling out?

Before we delve into the tips, let’s address one thing. When it comes to hair loss, there are so many possible triggers – meaning that it can be tricky to pinpoint the exact reason.

Some individuals just genetically lose hair at a higher rate, while hair loss can also be caused by underlying health conditions, hormones or medication.

When it comes to hair loss for women, it’s also a very common problem – much more than people realise. In fact, research has shown that at least 1 in 3 women will suffer from reduced hair volume or deal with hair loss at some point in their life.

Don’t freak out

Losing your hair can leave you feeling stressed, but it’s important to not freak out.

Take all the time you need, but as mentioned, you’re not alone in experiencing hair loss so you definitely shouldn’t be embarrassed about it.

Talk to friends and family

Feel free to talk to individuals closest to you and confide in them about your hair loss and how it makes you feel.

Don’t be afraid to reach out and talk with them about how they can be there for you, and what type of support you may need.

Attend a support group

While your friends and family will always be there for you, they may not understand exactly what you’re going through. Having that fantastic support network with other people that have gone through the same thing as you, can work wonders.

Learn to accept it

It’ll definitely take time, but try to come to terms with your hair loss. One way you can go about doing so is to make a list of all of the fantastic qualities that you have and focus your energy on celebrating those wonderful attributes instead.

Style your hair differently

Just because you’re losing hair doesn’t mean that you can’t experiment with different hairstyles and colours. Talk to your hairdresser about changing up your hairstyle, or take the plunge and finally get that hair colour you’ve always wanted.

If you’re dealing with hair loss, you can also use our Eden Clip Ins or Eden Ponytail to add volume and length to your hair. Since they come with a silicone grip, they’re safe on fragile hair and you won’t have to worry about it breaking off your hair or damaging it further.

The most important thing to acknowledge amidst all of this is that hair loss is incredibly common and nobody should feel ashamed or stressed about it. We’re all beautiful in our own ways, and we should celebrate who we are, what we have, and the amazing qualities that make you special and unique.
