With the recent changes to our daily routines; regular visits to the salon for hair treatments may no longer be happening. Have no fear; there is still ‘hair hope’ for us all!
Today, we are sharing four tips for having, and maintaining, healthy hair while in social isolation.
Not only does a silk pillowcase feel like a dream on your skin, but it is also a perfect solution for preventing frizz and tangling. You can usually get a budget-friendly pillowcase on Amazon or eBay. No need to head to the malls or shops. Also, wearing your hair in a loose ponytail, using a scrunchie or tangle-free elastic band, will prevent your hair from rubbing together and creating unwanted mattes.
If you have naturally straight hair, brushing your hair before washing it is always a must. Brushing your hair before washing it will loosen up any product build-up and help you remove unwanted tangles before you wash your hair. Wet hair is 50% more elastic so that tangles will stretch and tear more easily than dry hair. We recommend brushing your hair starting from the ends and working your way up until it is completely smooth before you wash it.
Rather than rinsing your hair right away, let your hair conditioner sit in your hair for a few minutes. In the meantime, you can apply a face mask, shave your legs or sing your favourite shower songs. Leaving your hair conditioner in for a few minutes will give the conditioner time to penetrate the hair shaft and add moisture to your hair.
Do not FULLY rinse out the conditioner. That is the easiest and most budget-friendly way to ensure your hair is soft and smooth. You’ll notice that you have fewer tangles, and your hair will feel healthier in the long run.
